The mission of Nashville State Technical Community College (NSCC), as stated in the college catalog [1], is to provide comprehensive educational programs.  All admissions requirements support this mission.

Nashville State admissions policies are guided by Tennessee Board of Regents Policy No: 2:03:00:00 [2].  Admission to NSCC is available to any individual who is a high school graduate or equivalent.

The two major types of admission are Degree Admissions and Non-Degree Admissions.  Each admissions category is designed to meet a specific student need.  To support student success, in both categories students must meet entry-level standards for courses in which they enroll, be able to complete assignments, and be able to read and write at the required level [3]. These requirements are consistently applied, and may be waived only by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Applicants for Degree Admissions may apply to enter an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Arts, or Certificate program.  The Associates' of Arts and Science degrees are designed to provide the first two years of a Baccalaureate degree and to be transferred to a four-year college or university.  The Associate of Applied Science Degree and certificate programs are designed to lead directly to employment and typically do not transfer toward a baccalaureate degree in their entirety.

Nashville State has four programs which require a special admission process.  These are Nursing [4], Occupational Therapy [5], Surgical Assisting [6], Surgical Technology [7], and Automotive Technology [9].  Information packets are available for students to assist them in these special admission processes.

Admissions policies are published in the Nashville State catalog [3] and on the Nashville State website [8].
