Computer Services - Help Desk (CSDH)
The Computer Services Help Desk provides students, faculty and staff of NSCC assistance with computer and network issues, account management, and act as the first point of contact within the division. CSDH also operates an Open Computer Lab for students in C308 and maintains web sites with various information to assist faculty and students. The CSDH can be visited in C308-A, contacted via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (353-3678), or visit their web site.
The CSDA group is charged with implementing and maintaining enterprise resource planning (ERP) projects for the college. The term enterprise resource planning was coined in the early 1990s to describe a software solution integrating information and business processes to enable sharing, throughout an organization, information entered once in a database. CSDA is currently responsible for coordinating the migration to SunGardHE’s Banner software system, which will provide NSCC with a true 21st century ERP solution.
The CSDS group provides server and communication support and services to the NSCC community. These includes Microsoft, Digital and SUN servers supporting the college’s Banner ERP and existing administrative systems, Desire2Learn, email, web hosting, and a variety of other on-line services.
The CSDU group provides technical support and services to students, faculty and staff, including computer hardware, software, networking, telephones and wiring. The staff work throughout the campus, addressing computer and network problems when they occur, upgrading and replacing older systems, helping to specify and purchase new equipment, and setting up computer-based and multimedia classrooms. In addition, desktop software applications are installed and managed by this group, including consultation on software license compliance.
