Text Box: What are some of the benefits of Banner HR?
Text Box: Banner HR Self-Service allows employees to use a web-interface anywhere Internet access is available to accomplish the following tasks:
- Enter and track leave requests and balances
- View paycheck information such as pay stubs, deductions, and withholdings
- Update tax exemptions, benefits, and other deductions
- Enter time sheets
- Update biographical information (phone number, address, etc.).

In our current system, a record is created in SIS Plus if you take a class at NSCC, a separate record is created in HR as an employee, and yet another record is created in FRS for your pay information.  Additional records are frequently created in HR when a name is changed, nicknames are used, or even a name is misspelled.  Because all of the different components of Banner are tightly integrated, only one record is created for each person.  If a person starts at NSCC as a student, graduates and becomes an alumnus, and later is hired as an adjunct, there is only one record created.  Banner automatically checks for duplicate names and generates an alert when a potential duplicate is identified.

Text Box: SCT Banner Human Resources (HR) replaces our current SCT Plus HR system.  As you might imagine, Banner HR’s primary purpose is to manage our personnel records.  But there are multiple aspects to managing those records, and many currently manual processes will be automated, such as the following tasks:
- Position management – creating and tracking everything from position descriptions and required skills or education to salary ranges and current holder of the position.
- Applicant tracking – links scanned documents (resume, transcripts, letters of reference, etc.) to an applicant, and tracks the applicant through the hiring process including online selection and approvals.
- Payroll – input of time sheets, leave requests, and direct deposit information, benefits management, and work schedule tracking.
- Employee management – job title and salary information, American with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations, probationary periods, job history, and faculty loads.
