Text Box: Banner Finance Self Service allows employees to use a web-interface anywhere Internet access is available to accomplish the following tasks: - Budget query by account or by organizational hierarchy - Fill out a general requisition - Approve contracts and purchase orders - View previously completed documents - Enter budget transfers - Search chart of accounts for account numbers Because Banner Finance is integrated tightly with the other Banner modules, data is not duplicated from one system to the other, as happens with some data on our current SCT Plus systems now.  Instead, there is only one set of data which is accessed from the different modules.  This feature eliminates the problem of keeping similar data in multiple locations synchronized.  For example, the following data is accessed by Finance in addition to the indicated Banner module: - Payroll and labor distribution—HR - Gift designation—Advancement - Fee assessment, financial aid, and accounts receivable—Student

Text Box: SCT Banner Finance replaces our current SCT Plus FRS system.  As you might imagine, Banner Finance’s primary purpose is to manage our financial records.  But there are multiple aspects to managing those records, and many currently manual processes will be automated, such as the following tasks: - Procurement—virtually the entire process will be done online.  Everything from generating General Requisitions and Purchase Orders to Request for Proposals and contracts will be accomplished with very little paper.  Approvals will be coordinated electronically at all levels, with only the final legal document being printed out. - Cost Accounting—will immensely simply the process of attributing costs to the correct department or division.  Budgeting, in turn, will be simplified as expenditures will be updated in real time making it easier to track budget execution and profitability. - Financial analysis—because Banner is a relational database, analysis and trending capabilities will be significantly improved.  Questions and relationships that are almost impossible to define today will be routine.
