Searching AGent Multi-Search

1. Sign onto a NSCC computer and go to ACADEMICS and then to LIBRARY.

2. Click on the FIND BOOKS, FILMS, AND ARTICLES link.

3. Click on SEARCH EVERYTHING (AGENT).

4. Click BEGIN to start searching.

5. Type in your keyword or a short phrase, and then choose the database choices you want to search: Library catalog, (Nashville State CC is for physical books found here or NetLibrary e-books), (ProQuest Safari is for computer and technical books only) Databases. (Any combination or number)

6. Click the SEARCH button.

7. It will search the first 10 choices at first, but if you want to see more you can click the link that says [Click here to continue searching resources].

8. When using more than one keyword separate them with AND, OR, or NOT.

9. The results page will tell you which of your choices have articles or books on your topic.

10. Left side of the screen has a summary of the results. Right side has the article titles from each of the databases that have results. [F] = full text; [A] = abstract.

11. Clicking on the article title takes you to the database that contains the full text or abstract (summary) of the article.

12. To find the call number of a book (where the book is located) click on the book title (from the title list page) to bring up the full record. Then go to the bottom of the record where you will see the Location, Call number and Item type information. Location starts with ERC (Educational Resource Center), better known as the “library”!

13. Stacks means the book is located upstairs and can be checked out.

14. Reference means the book cannot be checked and is located on the main floor of the library across from the circulation desk.

15. HUM means the book is in Humphreys County (Waverly, TN).

16. ERC NETLIBRARY means the book is in electronic format. It can be accessed by clicking on the Electronic Location link. (You must set up a free account on campus to use NetLibrary books.)

17. AV means Audio-Visual and is located on the main floor in the audio-visual section.

18. Reserves mean class textbooks or other course related materials. Located at the Circulation Desk.

19. Periodicals mean magazines or journals. Current year on the main floor. Bound back issues are on the 2nd floor. Microfiche back issues are on the main floor in the audio-visual section. A microfiche reader-printer is also back in AV. All periodicals are shelved alphabetically by title.
