PART 3: HOW TO GET STARTED

1. Perform a System Check

Before you log in to your web course for the first time, perform a system check by visiting the NS Online System Check (opens in a new window) to ensure that your computer and web browser are compatible with NS Online.


2. Become familiar with the NS Online sytem tools that will be used in your course

The NS Online course environment includes a variety of tools that you will need to understand how to use in order to be successful in your course. Learn more about the NS Online Course Tools here.


3. Learn about the ways you will be expected to conduct yourself in the online environment

Before you begin a course in the online environment, it is important that you understand some of the social rules that must be followed to maintain a functioning classroom where people are free to ask questions and learn. Learn more about Netiquette ('net etiquette) here.


If the above characteristics sound like you, great! You might be a good candidate for online learning. If only a few or none of the above apply to you, don’t fret! You can still be successful in an online course.
