Faculty Information
For the next five years, our QEP will focus on improving student success in their first year. No matter what course you teach or what level, you can be a part of the QEP. Perhaps you will teach NSCC 1010, a one credit, five-week course. You can talk to your first-year students about the connection between the course they’re taking and their career goals. Even if you only see first-year students in an advising session or one introductory course, you can put them on the right path to academic success. Please see the resources to the left for more ways to get involved.
Teaching this class can be like herding cats, and like cats the students may not show appreciation for your efforts, but this class reminds me why I am here.
Jessica Rabb, Biology Faculty
NSCC 1010 is a much needed course which helps students navigate their first year of college. It teaches them essential skills in terms of time and money management, and it also teaches them how to balance their education, work, and personal lives.
Aggie Mendoza, English Faculty
I love helping students fine tune or even completely change their education plans. To help someone who was originally off-course, not only correct themselves but speed towards their now clear goal is why I got into teaching.
Robert Overall, Criminal Justice Faculty
I love teaching NSCC 1010. It's a great way to meet the newest students on campus and help them find their ways around. Watching them grow in confidence in the first several weeks really is one of the perks of teaching.
