The UBIDUO  (ubi duo, ub duo)

I sat on a meeting with a lady presenting on the ubiduo.  She was not very nice to interpreters, to say the least.  Her signing was even worse. 

The representative came in and criticized interpreters for not conveying information accurately while using an interpreter to convey the information to the Deaf.  Can you imagine.  Why didn't she just pull out a dozen of these lunky tty looking machines to make the presentation.  It is a teletype device that requires two to communicate.  Here is a picture from their website:

Can you imagine trying to replace an interpreter with one of these devices during surgery, police reports, and so forth?  If costs approximately $2000 for one of these devices, why not just get two blackberry devices that would cost one-tenth of the percent.  Or better yet a pen and pencil that costs 1/1000ths of what a "ubi duo".
