The CARE Team

supports student success

The CARE Team at NSCC is a collaborative effort among the Access Center, faculty, Safety/Security, and the Associate Vice President of Student Services and Student Life to address the emotional health of our students.

When To Make a Referral

Although some of our students may need disciplinary action for student code of conduct issues, the CARE Team provides emotional and/or resource support. For example, submit a "care referral" if a student:

Care Referral
NSCC Suicide Prevention Plan
Crisis Protocol

Urgent Situations

If a student is planning to harm themselves or others, please contact Mobile Crisis (615-726-0125) and NSCC Security (615-353-3273 - Main Campus) for safety reasons.

We are also obligated to report elder abuse, child abuse, and/or sexual misconduct to the appropriate agencies.

In honoring the safety of students, we cannot guarantee confidentiality. However, care referrals will not be a part of a student's academic transcript for NSCC.

If you are in doubt about whether or not the situation is serious, please err on the side of caution and file this report.

What Happens After I Submit a Referral

When a care referral is submitted, the CARE Team makes every effort to help our students, faculty, and staff feel safe and supported. The CARE Team is here to help a student address problems, find resources, and cope with the stresses of life. By filling out a CARE referral, you continue to make Nashville State Community College a caring community committed to student success.

NOTE: The CARE Team is not a crisis intervention team. Please allow up to 48 hours to respond to referrals.
