Hello!
My name is Quenton Pulliam. I'm one of the fellows at the left, the two-legged
one on top. The four-legged one on the bottom is Chip, an Appaloosa horse, and
one of my favorites. We're at Dale Hollow Lake below Red Oak Ridge east of
Celina, TN. This is my definition of stress relief and mental health!
I recall wondering as a
college student if some of my professors had the experience and background to
help me to learn the subject matter. I claim no expertise in anything because
that could get me into trouble; however, I have studied business and economics
continuously, formally and informally, for more than forty years. I have earned
both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business, economics, and
education. Additionally, I have completed approximately thirty hours of
graduate work beyond the master's degree.
My business experience is
primarily in ownership and management for the past forty plus years. My partner
and I owned and operated several retail and wholesale businesses for several
decades. Additionally, I have been involved with residential real estate since
the early 1970’s. I remain active in the business community and continue
to read about and study the fascinating world of business.
I began teaching in the late 1970’s with a few courses in the evenings and Saturdays at local universities. I made a significant career change in the 1980’s when I decided to selI the retail and wholesale businesses and join Nashville State on a full-time basis. I hope this background provides me with the knowledge and ability to assist you as you navigate through our course.
The business world is a
particular interest of mine since the subject is relevant to our lives on a
daily basis. Sometimes it's difficult to see how the business, economic, and
political events reported in the various news media affect us personally, but
they do. I think a worthwhile goal for our course is to help each of us improve
our business and economic literacy and understanding. Achieving this goal will
give us the tools to interpret the daily business and economic events in our
cities, states, country and the world, and to realize how we are affected by
them. I hope that we are able to take an abstract subject, demystify it, and
apply it to the contemporary issues which concern us all. Please call on me if
I may be of assistance with any aspect of our course.
Quenton
