To add ClipArt to a slide using the layout for art, double-click to add the ClipArt and then enter the search term. Click Go. Locate the ClipArt that you want to insert and click OK. You will notice that the ClipArt is inserted on the slide. The green handle means the ClipArt can be rotated, and it can be resized. To use a blank slide and insert ClipArt, just click on Insert, Picture, and choose ClipArt. Search for the term "tripod." Click Go. Then select the tripod. Click on it and the ClipArt will be inserted on the slide, not in a placeholder. It likewise can be resized or rotated as desired.
There are two ways to insert a picture into a slide. You can use the content placeholder and click Insert, Picture. Locate the picture on your computer. Click the file name. Click Insert. You can also insert a picture on a blank slide. Select Insert, Picture From File. Click the file name. Click Insert. We have our image inserted. The image can be resized by placing the cursor over a corner and dragging. The picture can be moved by placing the four-pointed arrow over the image and then moving it to the desired location.
This is an introduction to the drawing bar. If the drawing bar is not displayed, click on View, Toolbars, and make sure drawing has been checked. If not, click and it will add this drawing bar to the bottom of the screen. You can add all sorts of interesting pieces here. Click on AutoShapes. There are callouts that you can use. Click on the AutoShape and then drag. You can then just key text in to add some interest. Once you have added an AutoShape, you can add fill color. You can make it a different color inside. We can change the line color and the text color. I'm going to change the text color to black. That is a better choice. It shows up better. You can also add boxes. If you hold the Shift key, you can create a perfect square. If not, this will create a rectangle. Hold the Shift key to create a perfect circle, or draw an oval. WordArt can be inserted. Click on WordArt. Choose a style that you like. Click OK. Type the text. This can be adjusted. Notice, also, there is a green handle at the top of this that allows you to rotate the WordArt. There are a number of options for adding interesting pieces to your presentations using the Drawing Bar.
Charts can be used to enhance a presentation. In the first method we will use, we have a placeholder with the Content button. Choose Insert, Chart. Once you select that, the data sheet opens with some pre-filled information. Since we are using digital cameras, we will enter some different information here. We will compare sales information, and I'll key months rather than quarters. Once the data has been entered, click the Close button and the chart is created. By default, it creates a bar chart. We will go to a blank slide. This time there is not a placeholder so I will click the Insert Chart button, or I could use Insert, Chart from the menu. Again, the data sheet opens. I'm going to plan a different type of chart this time. I want a pie chart, and it would have only one line of information. We'll look only at Sony. Close the data sheet. Once the data sheet is closed, notice that we have a chart option on the menu. I want to choose Chart Type, and I want to change it to a pie chart. You will see a variety of types here. To preview, the Press and Hold button lets me review what the chart looks like. I am going to click OK and now I have my pie chart. To make changes, I can click Chart, Chart Options. I can title the chart "Sales." I can control the legend. The legend is January, February, March, and April.. I'm going to leave that at the right, but notice I could change the location. For data labels, I'm going to add percentage to show the percentage of the sales and click OK. I also have the option of exploding particular sections or revising sections of the chart. Click on the pie. I can click on an individual section of the pie a second time, and if I want to explode or expand that section, I can do so to point out a difference or something I want to call attention to. Notice that when you finish with the chart, if you click outside the chart, it returns to a version where you cannot do editing. If you want to do further editing, double-click on it, then it is converted to a format where you can work in the chart area and make editing changes. Now we have charts to explain our content--either a bar chart or a pie chart.
