Greetings, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the holiday season begins, my wish for you is to find time to rest and do something you enjoy. The end of the semester is near, and it will require energy and patience to provide our students with the support they need to finish strong. I know this time of year can be challenging for many. <\/a>Remember our new Mascot and motto – Nashville State Falcons fly together! It is ok not to be ok. If you find yourself needing additional support, your college is here for you. You are not alone. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers services at no cost to all benefit-eligible employees and eligible family members. Visit Here4tn.com<\/a> for more information. In addition, the United Way of Greater Nashville provides free financial counseling. You can make an appointment by calling 615-748-3620.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Support<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As we prepare for the final weeks of the semester, you can make a difference for our students. When you see a student in need, please help connect them to the most appropriate office. Professional Learning Workshops<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dickson Campus<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We are thankful to the City of Dickson for the three-year agreement to use of the Senior Center for our Dickson Campus. Special thanks to Facilities and TSD who are spending countless hours to get the space ready for Spring 2023 classes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrollment Update<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Retention of our current students is our highest priority. There have been several innovative campus and department led activities to bolster early registration like Clarksville\u2019s Pizza with a Professor.<\/em> Everyone is encouraged to share and support the efforts being made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder, Spring 23 registration started a month earlier than previous years. Therefore, we do not have an accurate point to point comparison to prior spring terms. You can view the enrollment dashboard here<\/a>. Our amazing Institutional Research team will adjust the dashboard next month to align the Spring 21 and 22 data to the start of class.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fantasy Football<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Two teams PrOfessOr_Cha0s (Peter Ortner) and Online Dr. J (Jamie Edwards) have only 1 loss after week 10. <\/a>We are heading into the final games before the playoffs are decided. Of course, I am still in the playoff hunt with a 6-3 record. Each week we send out the Division standings to the league. SOAR Award update<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For the fourth year in a row a Nashville State student is a SOAR Award FINALIST<\/strong>! Please join me in congratulating our amazing student Sara Thaher who was selected as a finalist to compete in the State competition in March from the Middle Tennessee Region. Best wishes to Jay Chambers and April Robinson who will soon compete in the regional competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nashville Flex Host Meet and Greet<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

College students benefiting from Nashville Flex, student success and Foundation staff, and student champions from the Tennessee College Access and Success Network held a casual and fun meet and greet Wednesday evening November 18 to connect and enjoy each other\u2019s company and share a meal.<\/p>\n\n\n

NSCC Faculty Earn ACUE Microcredentials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

22 NSCC faculty have earned the ACUE Microcredential in Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment.  During the fall semester, these faculty have engaged in professional learning about creating inclusive and supportive learning environments, implemented inclusive and supportive practices in their courses, reflected on the impact of these practices, and planned for how to use these practices in their teaching moving forward.  Teaching practices included focusing on leading the first day of class, promoting a civil learning environment, engaging underprepared students, helping students persist in their studies, embracing diversity in the classroom, checking for student understanding, and providing useful feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
