Update from the President<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Greetings Fellow Falcons,  <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

June 1 marked the beginning of my eighth year as President of Nashville State! As I reflect on my seven years of service, I am truly grateful for the opportunity to lead our college and work with each of you.  We have faced many challenges over those years, but we remain Nashville State strong!  And where the 2019-20 academic year was the most difficult of my professional career, the 2024-25 academic year has been one of the best, and I believe 2025-26 will be even better!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why? Because by working together, our outcomes are beginning to reflect the hard and consistent work taking place in and outside the classroom.  Nashville State is Moving Forward and well positioned as a college to achieve our Vision 2030: A Student Ready College plan. Below are a few updates from the Office of the President:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

June Quarterly TBR Meeting<\/strong> \u2013 The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) June quarterly meeting took place June 12-13 at Northeast State Community College.  I am excited to share that our request to replace the A Building with a new Science and Technology building was approved!  This is only the first step but an important one. Our $57 million project is one of 8 that will move forward to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).  THEC will then submit a recommendation to state officials for consideration in the 2026-27 Budget.  I will keep you updated on the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, TBR approved Faculty Tenure requests for Dr. Gracie King and Mr. Brian Curtis and Faculty Promotions for Dr. Douglass Godwin, Zachary Mills, Beth Slade and Mary Womack.  Congratulations to all! TBR also approved a 2.6% increase for all regular, full and part-time benefit eligible employees effective July 1st<\/sup>. Summer\/Fall Enrollment Update <\/strong>\u2013 Summer enrollment is up 8.5% headcount and 14.6% FTE.  Fall is trending up as well with a strong increase in our continuing students which has been an intentional area of focus and something to celebrate!  Stay data informed by visiting the Data Access Page<\/a>. Wellness <\/strong>\u2013 I keep talking about Wellness in each Voice article because it is critical. It is important to me that you are safe and well.  Take the time to review the Partners for Health\u2019s online wellness benefits and Emotional Wellbeing Solutions (formerly EAP) for support services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
