Jackson<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Greetings Fellow Falcons,&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy New Year!&nbsp; I am approaching 2026 with a heart of gratitude and expectation. The steady progress towards Vision 2030 continues, and the opportunities to accelerate success are numerous. I continue to reflect on the words of our Convocation speaker, Dr. Teresa Vasquez.&nbsp; Our ordinary days generate extraordinary results. She and many other graduates of Nashville State are a reflection of our individual and collective efforts. You matter and your contributions are making a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are a few updates from the Office of the President:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Convocation \u2013 <\/strong>A special thanks goes to Natalie Olsen, David Crawford, Gabe Fulgenzio, David Henry, and Kathleen Duff for their work producing Convocation and to the other presenters and contributors who made the day possible. It really does take a village. We expect to send the recording of Convocation out in the next few weeks. The renovation on the existing campus will begin soon. A Grand Opening will take place when the renovation is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dickson Campus \u2013 <\/strong>Our new Dickson campus is nearing the end of completion. Our teams are diligently working to get the new building ready for classes starting March 16 after the spring break.&nbsp; However, through a partnership with TriStar Horizon, our first cohort of Nursing students in Dickson started this semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fantasy Football \u2013<\/strong> As Superbowl Sunday is only a few weeks away, I wanted to recognize our 2026 winners! You matter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we begin a new year and a new semester, we must continue to focus on our LEADS Core Values and strive for a culture of excellence in people, places, programs and partnerships. You can view the detailed responses in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nscccsd-my.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/g\/personal\/natalie_olsen_nscc_edu\/IQAx1OkgOUd1T5bN1MDTKX57AbtsPmA-rZC6gyzzv9j5s_k?e=Aao8wX\"><strong>Survey Response PDF.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the third year of the engagement survey, which is sent to regular full-time and part-time employees each fall. The survey was designed by the Employee Engagement Committee, in conjunction with IR, to help inform the work of college leaders and the Engagement Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Survey responses are categorized into three areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>STRENGTHS <\/strong>\u2013 (Green) 80% or more answered \u201cStrongly Agree\u201d or \u201cAgree.\u201d This is where we want to see all of our responses fall.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>OPPORTUNITIES<\/strong> \u2013 (Yellow) 25% or more answered either \u201cSomewhat disagree\u201d or \u201cSomewhat agree.\u201d This is what we would call \u201con the fence\u201d responses \u2013 not wholly positive, but not wholly negative.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>WEAKNESSES<\/strong> \u2013 (Red) 10% or more <a>answered<\/a> \u201cStrongly disagree\u201d or \u201cDisagree.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to see continued growth in our Strengths percentages, but also a decrease in numbers in the Weakness category. This may look like a shift from a Weakness to an Opportunity, and then, ideally, to a Strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Overall Engagement<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, 71% of responses to questions were \u201cStrongly Agree\u201d or \u201cAgree,\u201d which is a 2-percentage point increase from 2023. The bar chart below is a snapshot of how our \u201cStrongly Agree\u201d and \u201cAgree\u201d responses have been trending. In 2024 we saw a nice increase in strength responses in most categories, followed by a slight dip in a handful of categories in 2025. However, most responses have remained stable or are up 1-2 percentage points from 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"491\" height=\"245\" src=\"https:\/\/ww2.nscc.edu\/thensccvoice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5034\" style=\"aspect-ratio:2.0041407867494825;width:856px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ww2.nscc.edu\/thensccvoice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-1.png 491w, https:\/\/ww2.nscc.edu\/thensccvoice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-1-300x150.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 491px) 100vw, 491px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The only category that remained in the <strong>Weakness<\/strong> bucket is the frequency of supervisor feedback with 15% of respondents saying they only receive feedback from their supervisor 1x a year. The good news on that question, however, is that we saw a 3-percentage-point increase since 2023 in the number of people who receive feedback daily or weekly \u2013 which is now at 62%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Areas to Highlight<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The percentages below represent Agree or Strongly Agree responses. This one credit course is a graduation requirement of all first-time college students because it makes it more likely they will graduate. While our students start college year-round, most start in the fall and so that is when we need the most NSCC 1010 instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon there will be a call for NSCC 1010 instructors in preparation for Fall 2026 registration that begins in April. If you haven\u2019t taught NSCC 1010 in a year, we need you again. Program Director Van Bates and Surgical Tech faculty members Jay Chambers, Genevieve El-Chaer, Kirsten Ford, and Kayla James did an extraordinary job of pulling all materials together, addressing questions by the on-site team, and providing additional information as requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the year for full programmatic accreditation review as well for the Nursing and Occupational Therapy Assistant Programs. Accreditors from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Accreditation Council on Occupational Therapy Education will visit Nashville State the first week of March. Accreditation visitors often ask to speak with faculty who teach pre-requisite program coursework &#8211; Directors Beth Youngblood and Piper Sesnan may be reaching out for volunteers for this activity. The Nursing program began its first cohort of 24 students in Dickson this spring. TriStar Horizon Medical Center is hosting our students this semester, and we are grateful for their partnership. Students are looking forward to moving into the new building for Fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are also on track to open a Nursing cohort in Clarksville for the Fall 2026 semester, and pending state approval we plan to begin our first EMS Basic class in Dickson in fall as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lots of changes and good growth are happening.
