Ms. Hawkins is an Assistant Professor for the NSCC Applied Arts Graphic Design program. She has taught at NSCC for fifteen years. Courses she currently teaches include topics in digital imaging using Photoshop and digital photography with an emphasis on new and emerging technologies.
Skip Jackson, 615-353-3021
Skip Jackson received his Certificate of Photography from Nashville State Technical Institute in 1988 where he graduated with highest honors. In 2000 he received an Associate of Occupational Studies in Commercial Digital Photography from Nossi College of Art where he had been an instructor since 1993. Skip joined the adjunct faculty at Nashville State in 1994 and has been a full-time faculty member since 2000. He attended the Maine Photographic Workshop in 2004 led by Ms. Susan Ruddick Bloom who authored Digital Collage and Painting for Focal Press and was the instructor for the class ‘Advanced PhotoShop Techniques’ for digital photographers.
Owning a commercial photography business for 10 years, Skip worked with clients such as JC Bradford, Dr Pepper and Cumberland House Publishing, along with numerous music artists. The National Association of Independent Record Distributors has nominated his work for Album Cover Design, and he has received numerous recognition awards from various entities. He has been a guest speaker for the National Association of College Photographers and is a member of the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association.
With a love for photography and a distinct interest in the digital environment, he worked to create and develop Nashville State’s current curriculum and focus on digital photography. Along with Digital Photography, Skip teaches Lighting I and II and has conducted workshops in Digital Imaging and Color Management.
Vicki Kasperek , 615·353·3392
A native of Oak Ridge in East Tennessee, Vicki Kasperek attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and graduated from UT-Knoxville with a BS in Education. She became involved in the graphics industry and was active in all phases from production to management and marketing. She then took a position with a major manufacturer of computer-based typesetting equipment as an Educational Services Field Representative, providing primarily on-site training for customers throughout the Southeast. She is now a tenured Assistant Professor and currently serves as Program Coordinator for the Visual Communications program in the Applied Arts Department.
Emily Naff, Photography Instructor, 615-353-3079
Emily Naff is the newest member of the Photography faculty at NSCC, joining the team in 2005. Emily first fell in love with photography while studying at the University of Memphis. She continued her study of visual communications at MTSU, earning a Bachelor’s degree in University Studies. Emily used her professional experience working in a digital lab environment to help in upgrading the color lab to include digital technology. She teaches both online and ground classes including Basic Photography, History of Photography, Color Lab I and Color Lab II.
Priscilla Nash, 615-353-3393
Priscilla Nash is a tenured Assistant Professor in the Visual Communications Department with 19 years teaching experience. Priscilla received her BFA in commercial art with a minor in drawing and painting from Mississippi University for Women. Upon graduation, practical experience was gained through working in the graphic design industry for many years, in both advertising and public relations agencies in addition to freelancing. Some of the classes she teaches in the program are Type Concepts, Design Fundamentals, Design II, Portfolio, Electronic Publishing I, Electronic Illustration I, and Illustration and Media Techniques. In addition to her teaching, she is an accomplished painter, exhibiting her work in area art shows and a local gallery.

Dale Rogers is the Program Coordinator for our Multimedia Concentration. His teaching focus is in multimedia and web authoring and teaches both in the classroom and on-line. He brings a passion for teaching, and experience from multiple disciplines to our division. Dale has a Master's degree in Education in eLearning Technology and Design and his graduate work was in on-line curriculum design and implementation.
Dale has over 8 years corporate training and curriculum design experience, and 6 years in web and multimedia design. He came to us from Vanderbilt University where he was the Program Coordinator and Webmaster for a multidisciplinary doctoral program in Reliability and Risk. Dale also holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design where his focus was in Computer Aid Drafting and Design. Before coming to Nashville, he lived in Huntsville Alabama for 12 yrs. He spent 5.5 years with the Intergraph Corporation where he developed and implemented a training program for architectural engineering software products using Microstation and relational databases.

Beth Gorham (formally Beth Trabue) received her BFA in Photographic Design from the University of Georgia in 1994. After college she worked as a custom printer, a freelance photographer, and as an assistant to renowned photographers Sally Mann and Jack Spencer before coming to teach at NSCC. As an Assistant Professor in Photography she teaches basic and black and white classes. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Photography from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.

David Weilmuenster teaches a variety of subjects - including typography, printing technologies and web publishing courses. He is a graduate of MTSU, and serves as coordinator for web oriented classes in the Visual Communications department at NSCC.
