Graphic Design
Student Comments
"I
graduated from Nashville State Community College in December 2003 with
a major in Visual Communications/Graphic Design. I am now working at a
print shop in Franklin, called Harpeth Graphics, where I get to use all
the skills that I learned in school. Because of the great program, I
was able to pick right up with the tasks at the new job and immediately
felt comfortable with the programs they were using. I was well prepared
and had confidence in what I was doing.
Nashville State's design program has some of the most caring and dedicated teachers. They care about you not only as a student, but also as a friend. I remember a certain night being on the phone with one of them for over an hour at like one in the morning. Now that's what I call dedication.
I must also mention that I was referenced to this job by the school's career placement center. They did an excellent job helping me find the job that best suited me."

"Before I began attending Nashville State Community College, I thought graphic
design was all Photoshop, all computer, all the time. At NSCC, I
learned about the many aspects and processes involved in the design
field including typography, layout, and printing. I also learned the
various design applications and how to interweave my work through them
successfully. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and most
importantly, encouraging. As it turned out, I enjoyed my stay at NSCC
so much that I decided to continue my education. I submitted my
portfolio to Savannah College of Art and Design and received an artistic scholarship. I truly believe I would not be on this path to success without NSCC."
