A wonderfully comprehensive site, conveniently divided into seven color-coded levels. Each level has grammar, online chat, reading, and dictation exercises. In addition, there are numerous teacher materials. A very comprehensive site. Their "Six Minute English" is a really handy feature that has short video listening lessons on current topics - a new one every day. Foreign Language Resource Site A selected list of ESL websites, focusing on those which are interactive or use graphics, animation, audio, video and text to teach English online. American vs. British EnglishA detailed list of the differences between British and US vocabulary. Many words have explanations and examples of usage. "The Internet's Meeting Place for ESL/EFL Students and Teachers from Around the World!" Dave's ESL Cafe has chat, discussion forums, and message exchange. There is a help center, idea cookbook, and hint-of-the-day. Students can also take quizzes, and learn about phrasal verbs, quotes, slang, and much more. Easton's Materials for Teaching and Learning is a collection of Web sites for learning not only language mechanics such as pronunciation, spelling, grammar, reading and writing but also for learning through activities. Registration is required, but free, for a variety of courses and lessons. Lesson topics include Conversation, Grammar, Idioms, and Vocabulary. Courses are offered in Business Writing, Technical Writing, and a Resume Lab. They also offer a free online newsletter. The English page offers excellent grammar lessons with self-paced exercises. There are also vocabulary and reading comprehension passages on a variety of cultural topics. The Games link leads to interactive crossword puzzles, and the Reading Room has articles arranged by subject area as well as a link to the International Book Club.
