Zoom bombing is when someone enters a Zoom virtual meeting room and hijacks either the microphone, share screen, or annotation tools to insult and demean participants. Here are some choices you can implement to guard against Zoom Bombing.”
- Don’t announce meetings on social media or other public outlets.
- Use “Schedule Meeting” and make sure meetings are password protected. Learn more about Scheduling a Meeting
- In your Zoom.us Settings:
- Limit Screen Sharing to Host Only
- Disable the Join Before Host setting
- Use the Waiting Room option to admit participants
- During a meeting:
- Lock your meeting after beginning. When you lock a Zoom Meeting that’s already started, no new participants can join, even with an approved meeting ID and password. During a meeting, click “Participants” at the bottom of your Zoom window. In the Participants pop-up, click the button that says “Lock Meeting.”
- Remove disruptive participants. From the same “Participants” menu, hover your mouse over a participant’s name. Several options will appear, including “Remove.” Click that to kick someone out of the meeting.
