D2L Basics

This workshop will demonstrate how to navigate D2L, upload a syllabus, post a news item, use the classlist to monitor student progress and communicate with students, and navigate the calendar. This workshop will also demonstrate how to set up and organize course content, upload course documents, create HTML content using the built-in editor, and modify modules and content. Please bring a digital copy of your course syllabus. After the one hour workshop, there will be an optional 30-minute practice session during which time faculty can further practice their skills.

Simplifying Grading: Optimizing your D2L Gradebook

This workshop will demonstrate how to navigate the D2L gradebook, set up a gradebook, create grade categories and items, and enter and manage grades. Please bring a list of course assignments and values. After the one hour workshop, there will be an optional 30-minute practice session during which time faculty can further practice their skills.

This workshop will demonstrate how to set up a dropbox, as well as how to download, grade, and attach feedback to student submissions. Please bring a course assignment. D2L Quizzes

This workshop will demonstrate how to create and import quiz questions, manage restrictions and the respondus lockdown browser, and grade (auto grade, manual grade, and link to gradebook). Please bring a list of course assignments. After the one hour workshop, there will be an optional 30-minute practice session during which time faculty can further practice their skills.

D2L Rubrics

This workshop will demonstrate how to set up a rubric, download student assignments, grade both assignments and discussions using the rubric you’ve created, and attach feedback using the rubric. Maximizing Efficiency: Quick & Easy Grading in Turnitin Feedback Studio

This workshop will illustrate how to easily navigate and successfully use Turnitin Feedback Studio to provide meaningful feedback as well as accurate assessment to student Assignment Dropbox submissions. Using Intelligent Agents for Student Encouragement

Intelligent Agents are condition-specific emails that go out to your students who have – or have not – met certain criteria. Learn to create auto-replies for students based on their actions – or lack of action – in your course. After the one hour workshop, there will be an optional 30-minute practice session during which time faculty can further practice their skills.

End-of-Semester Activities in NS Online (D2L)

Whether on-ground, hybrid, or online, the end of the semester is a great time to ensure certain settings are checked in your D2L course. Review the process for releasing final grades and submitting official grades, exporting course documents, and finalizing final exam settings. After the one hour workshop, there will be an optional 30-minute practice session during which time faculty can further practice their skills.

D2L HTML Templates

This workshop will introduce faculty to the Daylight Templates newly available in NS Online. Faculty will practice creating new pages and copying content from existing pages into new template formats. Participants will also review Heading structures necessary for well-organized, accessible web pages in D2L.

Using Zoom with Students

This workshop will introduce faculty to the Zoom interface and its features. This workshop will highlight which features to use with students and how to use them, zoom settings, zoom recordings, and zoom accessibiliity.
